Imagine that the entire world population was only 12,000. Then assume that the entire population of the places known as USA and Canada were only 900 people. Now imagine the level of spiritual manifestation that could exist then.
It could be possible then that man could command the ocean to split and such would occur. If you may recall that during the Exodus of children of Abraham out of Africa; the populations were very much in thousands, still the spiritual connections to their God were very much prevalent.
The same power exists at the same time in other part of the world. Supreme Being such as Oduduwa, Obatala, Eri, are superior deity that make man from Clay at the command of Olodumare {God the most Highest Spirit}. History of molding man from Clay by these supreme beings were passed to the next generation through oral history only, and not recorded in a literary format. But children of Levi recorded their own account of such occurrence in a literary format thereby sanctioning their deity, and such becoming the most relevant to this day through teaching. As in all event; proof of written evidence overrides the unwritten; thereby becoming the most relevant surviving to modern day.

As you might have observed in modern day judicial process, a verbal explanation without documentation is not as valuable as much as a written document of the same account or event.
